Parkville United played First division side Celtic Stars in the Martin Mullins cup on Friday night. Both teams started off strong but it was Parkville that hit the net first with Colm Kenny winning the ball on the left wing and found paddy Byrne with a perfect cross for Byrne to score a brilliant header to make it 1-0. Stars began to push for the equalizer just before halftime and came close to scoring with seeing their efforts just wide. Second half Celtic Stars came out stronger but with the Parkville defense who were outstanding kept them at bay. Parkville made a few changes with fresh legs and with Colm Kenny in form in the middle of the park Parkville suddenly found Martin Fitzgerald with time and space to go on one on one with the keeper to finish in style made it 2-0 with 10 mins to go. Outstanding performance from the Parkville team to march on to the next round of the cup
